Last summer is was reported that a suburban Chinese restaurant had shut down and that its exact status was unknown at the time. Now we have learned that a new dining spot with a somewhat similar name--and a slightly different concept--has come to the space.
According to a poster within the Friends of Boston's Hidden Restaurants Facebook group page, Great Wok is now open in Wellesley, taking over the space on Route 9 where The Wok had been. An earlier Swellesley Report article had mentioned that Great Wok might have a sushi bar in addition to offering Chinese food, and while information shown for its website through a web search indicates that the restaurant indeed features both Chinese and Japanese food including sushi, its actual website is still under construction so its exact offerings are not yet known.
The Wok had been known for its Chinese-American and authentic Chinese fare, with the restaurant being in business for more than 40 years until closing sometime in late July or early August of last year.
The address for Great Wok is 180 Worcester Street (Route 9), Wellesley, MA, 02481. Its website will be at http://www.greatwokwellesley.com/
