A Somerville restaurant appears to among the first--if not the first--of the Boston-area dining spots to permanently close in the wake of the Coronavirus outbreak and the subsequent restaurant shutdown other than takeout/delivery services, although it now appears that its closure is not the direct result of the virus or the ruling.
According to a source, MidiCi at Assembly Row has shut down for good, with its Facebook page seeming to confirm this with a "Permanently Closed" label shown where its operating hours had been. A new note indicates that the closure had actually been in the works before the Coronavirus crisis, and that a rebranding of the space is actually being planned--and given the new restrictions, they decided to take the time to get a head start on remodeling.
MidiCi , which is part of a California-based "fast-fine" pizza chain, first opened in early 2018, offering Neapolitan-style pizza along with salads, small plates, beer, wine, and cocktails.
