Mike's City Diner Closed for Now After Owner Jay Hajj Tests Positive for COVID-19

A South End mainstay has shut down for the time being after the person behind the place has tested positive for COVID-19.

According to a Facebook post, Jay Hajj of Mike's City Diner on Washington Street states that he has tested positive for the coronavirus, though his symptoms are "very mild," but as a result, the restaurant is shuttered "out of an abundance of caution" so Hajj and his staff can self-quarantine. Hajj has not been in the kitchen of the eatery or serving food there, but as he indicates, this move was done to make sure both workers and customers aren't in any danger of catching the virus.

We wish Jay the best and hope he recovers quickly, as do countless people in the restaurant industry who have responded on both the restaurant's Facebook post and his personal post.
