It looks like a suburban hotel along Route 128 may be closed for good, and that hotel also happens to be home to a trendy steakhouse, putting the future of that place in jeopardy as well.
According to a source within the restaurant industry, Hotel Indigo in Newton appears to be shuttered permanently, with a since-deleted Facebook post indicating that the Grove Street place may have closed down for good last month. A check on the InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG) website seems to indicate that the Newton location of Hotel Indigo is no longer listed there, and a check on the website for BOKX 109, the restaurant located inside the hotel, redirects to the IHG website with no indication as to either the hotel or the dining spot being on the site anymore. Phone calls placed to BOKX 109 go unanswered, while its Facebook page has no updates--and hasn't since last fall.
BOKX 109 first opened within the Hotel Indigo in 2008, offering a variety of steak and seafood dishes along with other items.
The address for BOKX 109 (and the Hotel Indigo) is 399 Grove Street, Newton, MA, 02462. The website for IHG can be found at https://www.ihg.com/
[July 3 update: According to a Food for Thought segment with Billy Costa that was recently on WBZ 1030, a new hotel being planned at the site of the Hotel Indigo, though it is not known if BOKX 109 could return to the space or if another restaurant might open there.]
