Talise Is Opening in the Former Market Restaurant Space in the Annisquam Section of Gloucester

A couple of weeks ago, it was reported that a North Shore restaurant in a particularly scenic waterside space had closed for good, but now we have learned that a brand new dining spot will be moving in.

According to a press release, Talise is planning to open on Lobster Cove in Gloucester's Annisquam neighborhood, moving into the River Road space that had been home to The Market Restaurant. The email mentions that Joshua Smith, who had been a chef and partner at Short and Main in Gloucester, and his wife Ariel Smith (Neptune Oyster) and her sister Sarah Clasby Becker (Neptune Oyster and Eastern Standard) are behind the new dining spot, which will be a 65-seat seasonal restaurant that will offer such items as naturally-leavened bread, freshly-made salads, and locally-sourced seafood (including oysters). Talise plans to open in June, and it will initially focus on takeout/curbside pickup/delivery with ready-to-eat meal kits and beach picnic baskets offered.

The address for Talise in Annisquam is 33 River Road, Gloucester, MA, 01930. Its website is at https://taliserestaurant.com/

[July 9 update: According to a source within the Friends of Boston's Hidden Restaurants Facebook group page, Talise is now open, with the restaurant's Facebook page confirming this.]
