Backyard Betty's in South Boston Has Closed for Good

A South Boston restaurant that featured "American cult classics" and "backyard cookout cuisine" has shut down permanently.

According to a source, Backyard Betty's on West Broadway is no longer in operation, with a Facebook post from the place confirming this, saying the following (Caught in Southie has also confirmed this):

It's been a minute, we know! We want to say thank you to everyone who has offered support since we abruptly closed our doors in March, along with all other Boston restaurants, due to the initial outbreak of COVID-19. Though it was a difficult decision, we understand the health and safety of our community is the top priority....We were hopeful to bounce back to burgers, gamedays, and summertime fun in the backyard, it is with an extra heavy heart that we share Backyard Betty's will not be re-opening.

The team behind Publico on nearby Dorchester Street in Southie first opened Backyard Betty's in May of 2018; as mentioned in the Facebook post, Publico will remain open for business.

The address for the now-closed Backyard Betty's was 170 W Broadway, South Boston, MA, 02127.
