Muku Is Opening in Cambridge's Central Square/MIT Area

A new restaurant plans to open in Cambridge, and it appears to have at least an indirect connection to an award-winning sushi place in the western suburbs of Boston.

According to a City of Cambridge license commission page, Muku is looking to open on Mass. Ave. on the eastern edge of Central Square (near MIT), with the proposed manager being Kumiko Oga, who is one of the people behind Oga's in Natick. It is not yet known exactly what kind of food might be offered at the proposed eatery, but based on the fact that Oga's offers both sushi and Japanese entrees, Muku could be focusing on Japanese fare (as soon as we find out exact details about the place, we will post an update here).

Oga's, which first opened in Natick approximately 20 years ago, has been a favorite among both diners and media folks since it debuted, with Boston Magazine once giving it a "Best Sushi, West" award, saying it is "the kind of place that breeds fanatics."

The address for Muku in the Central Square/MIT area of Cambridge is 411 Massachusetts Avenue, Cambridge, MA, 02139.

[September 13, 2021 update: According to a poster within the Friends of Boston's Hidden Restaurants Facebook group page, Muku is now open, and its focus is on ramen.]
