A cafe with a familiar name is opening in the southern suburbs of Boston, and it will reside in an existing bakery space that will remain open for business.
According to a source, Newcomb Cafe is planning to open within Montilio's in Braintree, with a message sent from the company stating that this is a permanent setup. We have also been confirmed via an email address given in a Facebook post that the people behind the cafe are the owners of Newcomb's Breakfast And Lunch, a Weymouth eatery that was destroyed in a fire a couple of months ago. It is not yet known exactly what will be on the Newcomb Cafe menu, so check back for updates as they come in.
The Braintree location of Montilio's, which first opened in 2011, offers a variety of pastries, baked goods, and cakes, along with pizza, arancini, and more. Other locations of Montilio's can be found in Brockton, Quincy, and Weymouth.
The address for Montilio's in Braintree (and Newcomb Cafe) is 703 Granite Street, Braintree, MA, 02184. The website for all locations can be found at http://montilios.com/
[September 4 update: A check on the place indicates that Newcomb Cafe is now open within Montilio's in Braintree, and the two businesses share both inside and outside tables. The menu for Newcomb includes a variety of breakfast and lunch options, including breakfast sandwiches, a corned beef hash plate, waffles, pancakes, omelets, and skillet plates, along with an array of sandwich options for lunch, including club sandwiches and rollups.]
