The Lexington at Picnic Grove Opens at Cambridge Crossing July 16

Last spring, it was reported that a well-known local chef and restaurateur could be opening a group of dining spots at a new complex in East Cambridge, and now we have learned that he is getting ready to open an outdoor spot as the development continues to get closer to having its official opening.

According to a press release (and as first reported by The Passionate Foodie), Will Gilson is planning to open The Lexington at Picnic Grove on July 16, and running through the rest of the summer (open Thursday through Sunday), with the spot being located in an outdoor space within the Cambridge Crossing development and having seating for up to 80 people. The eatery will be testing out food items for an upcoming rooftop bar at the complex called The Lexington, which plans to open early this fall along with an Italian restaurant called Geppetto and a spot called Cafe Beatrice, which is the same Cafe Beatrice that had been a long-term pop-up eatery in Lower Allston until late last year.

Some menu items at The Lexington at Picnic Grove include oysters, grilled chicken wings, grilled bacon-wrapped scallops, tacos, wagyu hot dogs, burgers, lobster rolls, pistachio rice krispie treats, and more.

Gilson is also behind Puritan & Co., a restaurant in Inman Square that offers New American and regional fare.

[July 16 update: A new press release says that The Lexington at Picnic Grove indeed debuts today at 4:00 PM, with reservations being made at https://www.thelexingtoncx.com/]
