The person behind a Halal food truck has opened a brick-and-mortar restaurant that features Mediterranean and Middle Eastern fare.
According to an article in The Boston Globe, Zaaki is now open in Allston, with Samar Abdalelah of the food truck by the same name being behind the new Commonwealth Avenue eatery along with her husband Basel. A few items available at the restaurant include chicken shawarma, baba ghanoush, a falafel roll-up, hummus, and koshari, the last of which is a street food dish made with rice, lentils, macaroni, chickpeas, and fried onions in a spiced tomato sauce (koshari is considered to be the national dish of Egypt).
Samar Abdalelah, who moved from Saudi Arabia to Boston in 2013, first started the Zaaki food truck in 2018.
The address for Zaaki is 1147 Commonwealth Avenue, Allston, MA, 02134.
