Hen Opens in Somerville's Union Square

More than a year after announcing its plans, a new restaurant in Somerville that features a Thai version of a chicken and rice dish has opened its doors.

According to several sources, including posters within the Friends of Boston's Hidden Restaurants Facebook group page, Hen is now undergoing what appears to be a soft opening in Union Square (on the same corner as Gracie's and Masala Square), moving into the space that had once been home to Red House. As mentioned earlier, the new eatery features khao man gai, which is a style of Hainanese chicken rice typically found as a street-food dish in Thailand, and its menu shows options such as boiled boneless chicken, crispy boneless chicken, boiled chicken breast, and spicy crispy boneless chicken, while rice options include brown rice and ginger rice.

The address for Hen is 24 Union Square, Somerville, MA, 02143. Its website is at https://www.henchickenrice.com/
