[Ed note: This article was updated to reflect that L'Espalier will not actually be reopening and that its Instagram page was hacked.]
Earlier this afternoon, it looked like one of Boston's best-known restaurants was returning after closing down a couple of years ago. Now we have learned that it turned out to be the result of a rather interesting hack.
According to a source, L'Espalier in the Back Bay stated in an Instagram post that it was reopening on October 15, right down to saying that brunch would be offered along with a children's tasting menu--and that a "special guest Chef" would be there for opening weekend. Now we have learned from a few sources in the restaurant industry that the Instagram page for the dining spot had been hacked and that that the news was completely untrue.
L'Espalier closed its doors around the end of 2018.
