A local group of bakery-cafes that shut down all of its locations only to reopen two of them will not be opening one of its newer outlets.
According to an article from Eater Boston, Swissbakers has decided not to reopen its shop by North Station and TD Garden, with an Instagram post from the company saying that "Although we'd hoped to reopen swissbäkers North Station, the pandemic has taken a dramatic toll on commuter traffic, so we have decided to close swissbäkers North Station, permanently." It appears that the shop in Cambridge's Harvard Square could be closed for good as well, as the post mentions only the Allston and Reading locations being open (and its catering and wholesale business), but not the shop in Harvard University's Smith Campus Center. (If we do confirm that this location has also closed, we will post an update here.)
Swissbakers first opened within the Avalon North Station apartment building on Nashua Street in the latter part of 2018; that shop and all others closed last December, while another outlet at Boston Public Market had shuttered a couple of months before the storewide shutdown.
The address for the now-closed Swissbakers by North Station was 1 Nashua Street, Boston, MA, 02114. The website for the company can be found at https://swissbakers.com/
