Update: haley.henry in Downtown Boston Reopens After Closing for the Winter

[Ed note: This article was updated on April 5, 2021 to reflect the fact that the restaurant is now open once again after closing back in December.]

A wine bar in downtown Boston that is known in part for its tinned seafood is going to be shutting down for the time being.

According to a Facebook post from the place, haley.henry on Province Street is closing for the winter after dinner service on December 23rd, with the post saying the following:

We've clawed, fought & pushed through the first part of this pandemic with calculated steps to keep us in survival mode. We've been safe. We've been vigilant. We've been desperate. Unfortunately however,  optimism & determination can't save you from the reality of daunting business numbers; from rising COVID cases, to nights of zero sales, to looking out on a lonely, darkened street with no pedestrians. The pandemic has been unforgiving & unapologetic; unbiased and stops for nearly no-one. There aren't many answers to be found for something so uncomprehending in nature.

The post indicates that haley.henry could remain closed through February or March, depending in part on factors such as federal help and the vaccination timeline, and they also refer to the term that is so much in use these days, saying that "We hate the word 'hibernating'….it sounds 'cute' ..and that's not at all what this is. That term is meant for the natural, seasonal trajectory in an animals life and there isn't anything natural about this. It's heartbreaking on every level."

The address for haley.henry is 45 Province Street, Boston, MA, 02108. Its website can be found at https://www.haleyhenry.com/

[April 5, 2021 update: According to its Facebook page, haley.henry reopens today.]
