It looks like a longtime favorite for Chinese food could be going away, with a new restaurant planning to take over its space.
According to a licensing board hearing page within the City of Boston website, Wei Shu Wu Hot Pot is looking to acquire the license held by New Jumbo Seafood Restaurant to operate in its space on Hudson Street, with Feng Chen being the manager listed and with a proposed closing time of 3:00 AM. No other information has been given on the proposed eatery, so as soon as we find out more, we will post an update here.
New Jumbo Seafood Restaurant was once called Jumbo Seafood until it went through an ownership change a bit less than 15 years ago; both versions of the restaurant have been known for their Hong Kong-style dishes, and back when it was Jumbo Seafood, it was one of a few places in Chinatown (including the long-closed King Fung Garden on Kneeland Street) where well-known local chefs might be seen dining out during their off-hours.
The address for the proposed Wei Shu Wu Hot Pot (and New Jumbo Seafood Restaurant) is 5 Hudson Street, Boston, MA, 02111.
