Last spring, it was reported that a grocery store took over part of the space in Cambridge where a French-Canadian restaurant had been until temporarily closing due to the pandemic-related restaurant restrictions. Now we have learned that the grocery store is being reconcepted into a new restaurant within the space.
According to a press release, Vincent's Grocery on Cardinal Medeiros Avenue in the Kendall Square area of the city is becoming Vincent's, a New American restaurant that will have a cafe menu during the day with takeout, delivery, and patio service, and a restaurant in the evening that will "serve classically informed plates with local and carefully sourced ingredients" while its beverage program will focus on wine (beer and cocktails will also be offered). We have been told that the full French-Canadian concept of Cafe du Pays will not be returning and that the identity of Vincent's is currently being refined, though it is not yet known if some items from Cafe du Pays could end up being on the menu of the new dining spot (as soon as we find out more, we will post an update here).
Vincent's Grocery debuted in the lounge space of Cafe du Pays in May of 2020, while Cafe du Pays opened in 2017, replacing Hungry Mother which was run by the same team (along with Barry Maiden, who is no longer involved).
The address for Vincent's Grocery (and the upcoming Vincent's restaurant) is 233 Cardinal Medeiros Avenue, Cambridge, MA, 02141.
