Park 54 Is Opening in the Former Fairmount Grille Space in Hyde Park

A new restaurant is on its way to Hyde Park, moving into a space where a two-story dining spot had been.

According to a couple of sources, including a message from Adam Gaffin of Universal Hub, Park 54 is planning to open in the former Fairmount Grille space on Fairmount Avenue, with the website for the upcoming restaurant saying the following:

"Park 54" is inspired by the life and service of the men who served in the 54th Regiment - a volunteer infantry comprised of free Black American male soldiers. The regiment was established in Readsville, MA, now known as "Hyde Park." Despite the backlash the men received for fighting in a "white man's war" each of them bravely risked their lives for the freedom and betterment of their families, community, and country. Our mission is to continue the legacy of the historical 54th Regiment by creating a safe haven in which our beloved community of Hyde Park and the neighboring towns, can experience the freedom, happiness, and the fullness of self expression the 54th Regiment fought for. Our intention is to accomplish this by offering great food, innovative libations, incredible music, compelling historical artifacts, and an inviting ambience!

The people behind Park 54 are co-owners Tasha Hull and Andre Walker, Sr., along with managing partner Shawn Hunter (Darryl's Corner Bar & Kitchen, Slade's Bar and Grill).

Fairmount Grill closed in 2019 after being in business for approximately six years; the space had also been home to Townsends as well.

The address for Park 54 is 81 Fairmount Avenue, Hyde Park, MA, 02136. Its website can be found at https://park54restaurant.com/

[May 16, 2022 update: A new message from Adam Gaffin indicates that Park 54 soft-opened this weekend, with a Facebook post from the page showing such items (this weekend only) as wings, a catfish sandwich, calamari, street corn, and street tacos.]
