Yunnan Kitchen Is Replacing Equator in Boston's South End

It looks like a brand new restaurant featuring dishes from the southwestern part of China will be coming to the South End of Boston, and it would replace a longtime Thai spot.

According to a licensing board hearing page, Yunnan Kitchen is planning to open on Washington Street in the space that has been home to Equator, with a website for the proposed eatery indicating that it apparently has a connection to South of the Clouds, a restaurant in Brighton Center that also features Yunnan fare. (The Yunnan province of China is located near Laos, Myanmar, and Vietnam.) Based on the menu at South of the Clouds, it is possible that Yunnan Kitchen could be offering dishes that contain rice noodles (including noodle soup and stir-fried noodles), but a menu has not been seen as of yet.

Equator has been in business for approximately 20 years, offering Thai food along with some Korean dishes.

The address for Yunnan Kitchen (and Equator) is 1721 Washington Street, Boston, MA, 02118. The website for Yunnan Kitchen will be at https://www.yunnankitchensouthend.com/
