The Saugus Building That Used to House Victor's Italian Cuisine, Maddy's, and the Blue Star Has Been Demolished

A structure in Saugus that has been home to a few restaurants/bars over the years has been torn down.

According to an article from the Saugus Advertiser and Wicked Local, the structure at 1639 Broadway (where Routes 1 and 99 meet) was demolished yesterday, with the post indicating that it was due to an "emergency situation." In the article, Town Engineer Todd Baldwin said that a water main break took place there last week and the water was shut off at the curb, so "Due to the fact it didn't have functioning sprinklers, it was deemed to be an emergency and to have the building demolished." The building, which has been boarded up for awhile, had been home to Victor's Italian Cuisine, Maddy's, and the Blue Star, and as reported here earlier, it looked like it was already headed toward demolition, as the parcel was proposed to become home to an Italian steakhouse (the Saugus Advertiser also says that two apartment buildings are proposed for the space, with one of them including the steakhouse).
