A fried chicken place in MetroWest is planning to open a new location closer to Boston.
According to a source, Mochiko Hawaiian Fried Chicken is looking to open in Newtonville, moving into the space on Walnut Street that had been home to a location of Los Amigos until it moved. A picture sent to us indicates that both a building permit and a sidewalk seating application for the proposed place have been posted out front, with the latter including the name "Mochiko Hawaiian" on it. The original location of Mochiko Hawaiian Fried Chicken, which can be found in Marlborough, offers fried chicken sandwiches and fried chicken plates that use a sweet rice flour made from short-grain rice.
The address for the new location of Mochiko Hawaiian Fried Chicken is 324 Walnut Street, Newton, MA, 02460. The website for the original location in Marlborough is at https://www.mochikochix.com/
[August 8 update: According to a poster within the Friends of Boston's Hidden Restaurants Facebook group page, Mochiko Hawaiian Fried Chicken is now open in Newtonville.]
