A French patisserie is shutting down after being in business for a bit more than eight years.
According to a Twitter post from @CarolineChrisom as well as a tweet from @BosGuy, Cafe Madeleine the South End of Boston is closing permanently, with a note out front saying that the Columbus Street spot will be shutting its doors on Tuesday, November 15. No reason has been given for the closure, nor is it known what might go into the space; if we find out any additional information, we will post an update here.
Cafe Madeleine first opened in the summer of 2014, taking over the space that had once been home to the Amsterdam Cafe. The place served such items as croissants, tarts, eclairs, cheesecake, macarons, brownies, madeleines, quiche, panini, and croque monsieur.
The address for Cafe Madeleine is 517 Columbus Avenue, Boston, MA, 02118.
