The Modern Butcher Is Moving from Newburyport to Danvers

A butcher shop north of Boston that is known in part for its roast beef sandwiches is moving to a new location a lot closer to the city.

According to a source (Gary Goldblatt), The Modern Butcher is getting ready to move from its current home in Newburyport to a larger space in Danvers, with an article from boston.com saying that the new location will have a retail section, butcher area, and a three-seat charcuterie counter in addition to approximately 10 stools for dining in. If all goes as planned, the shop will open in its new home in early March of 2023, and if approved for a liquor license, it could also serve beer and wine in addition to food.

The Modern Butcher, which first opened in Newburyport in early 2019, offers a classic North Shore roast beef sandwich on Saturdays along with other sandwich specials each day.

The current address for The Modern Butcher is 226 Merrimac Street in Newburyport, while its new location will be at 36 Maple Street in Danvers. Its Facebook page is at https://www.facebook.com/themodernbutchershop

[March 14, 2023 update: A Facebook post from the place indicates that The Modern Butcher plans to shut down their Newburyport store on March 18, with the Danvers shop opening as soon as possible.]

[May 19, 2023 update: According to a source (Aron Levy), The Modern Butcher is now open in its new space in Danvers.]
