Big D's Neponset Cafe in Canton Is Closing

A longtime watering hole south of Boston that is known in part for its bar pizza is getting ready to shut down.

According to a message sent from Henry Santoro of WGBH, Big D's Neponset Cafe in Canton is closing its doors, with a Facebook post from co-owner Gary Titus confirming this, including a comment from him saying that the Washington Street spot has been sold. Big D's first opened in 1949, offering such items as quahogs, bar pizza, clam chowder, burgers, hot dogs, wings, steak tips, and more.

The address for Big D's Neponset Cafe is 497 Washington Street, Canton, MA, 02021. Its Facebook page is at https://www.facebook.com/BigDsNeponsetCafe/

[February 9 update: According to a Facebook post from Gary Titus, the bar pizza from Big D's Neponset Cafe will apparently live on, as Little D's will be opening within Irish Brewing Boston in Norwood (Titus says in the post, "Same great ovens, same great pizza").]

[February 20 update: Based on social media posts from Gary Titus, Big D's Neponset Cafe is now closed.]
