A new ramen place that will be north of Boston is getting ready to open its doors.
According to a source, Akita Ramen is opening in Andover, moving into the former Dickey's Barbecue Pit space in the Shawnsheen Plaza on North Main Street. A Facebook comment from the place from a couple of weeks ago indicated that it was hoping to open in mid-March, though we are not sure if that it still the case; stay tuned for any updates as they come in.
Dickey's Barbecue Pit closed its Andover outlet last spring, with this being its only remaining location in New England. Another outlet had been in Seekonk, but it is no longer in operation, either.
The address for Akita Ramen is 209 North Main Street (Shawsheen Plaza), Andover, MA, 01810.
[March 23 update: An article from the Andover News mentions that Akita Ramen has soft-opened.]
