Petula's Is Opening in the Former Sixth Gear Space in South Boston

A few months ago, it was reported that a South Boston restaurant known for its small plates and comfort food had closed, and now we have learned what will be moving into its space.

According to an article from boston.com, Petula's is going to be opening on L Street where Sixth Gear had been, with Rachel Titcomb (a Nautilus and Broadway Restaurant Group alum) and Mike Shaw (Loco, Fat Baby) being behind the upcoming spot. The post mentions that the dining spot will have the look of a French cafe and it will focus on dishes featuring seasonal, local ingredients along with cocktails and natural wines, initially being open for dinner service once it opens in late April. (Breakfast, brunch, and lunch service will follow at some point.)

Sixth Gear first opened in early 2016; previously, it had been home to Sauce, and before that, Wolfie's Kitchen And Bar and Kelly's Landing.

The address for Petula's is 81 L Street, South Boston, MA, 02127. Its Instagram page is at https://www.instagram.com/petulasboston/

[May 22 update: Caught in Southie mentions that Petula's is now open, and it offers such items as salads, wings, chips and dip, calamari, pizza, and steak frites.]
