It looks like a new Italian restaurant may be on its way to Somerville.
According to a source, Anthony's is looking to open on Highland Avenue, taking over the former Cuisine en Locale space near the Central Street intersection, which jibes with a recent Somerville Times post saying that Anthony's Function Too Inc is planning to open Anthony's and is seeking licenses for food and drink along with entertainment. Our source tells us that in a meeting that took place this week, it was mentioned that Anthony's would be a two-floor Italian restaurant with function space, a self-service pizza window, and live music/djs, with Anthony Quiles being behind the proposal.
Cuisine en Locale and its ONCE Lounge and Ballroom event venue said farewell to its space in 2020, though ONCE remains in operation promoting shows and small festivals in Somerville and elsewhere in the local area. (Lord Hobo had subsequently been looking to open in the Highland Avenue space, but those plans apparently fell through.)
The address for the proposed Anthony's restaurant is 156 Highland Avenue, Somerville, MA, 02143.
