Late last year, it was reported that a restaurant featuring American fare was planning to replace a location of a local group of Venezuelan dining spots, and now we have learned that it has debuted.
According to multiple sources, The Shawmut Inn is now open in the South End of Boston, taking over the former Orinoco space on Shawmut Avenue. As mentioned in an earlier article here, the new spot offers American fare, and Matt Sullivan of Sullivan's Public House in Charlestown and The Tap Room on Nantucket is behind the place. There doesn't appear to be a website or social media presence for The Shawmut Inn, though an Instagram page does exist (no posts as of this writing); as soon as we find more details on the place, we will post an update here.
Locations of Orinoco in Brookline Village and Cambridge's Harvard Square remain open.
The address for The Shawmut Inn in the South End is 477 Shawmut Avenue, Boston, MA, 02118. Its Instagram page is at https://www.instagram.com/shawmutinn/
