Nobscot's Cafe in Framingham Is Closing

A neighborhood restaurant and bar in MetroWest that is known in part for its live music is going to be shutting down next month.

According to a Facebook post from the place, Nobscot's Cafe in Framingham is closing its doors, with the post saying the following:

It is with great sadness that I post this. After 30 years in business Nobscot's Cafe will be forced to close our doors at the end of this year. Our landlord does not wish to renew our lease. Our last day of business will be December 24th, 2022.

Nobscot's Cafe, which is hidden away in a strip mall a few minutes north of Route 9, offers such items as steak tips, fried clams, burgers, wings, baked haddock, and chicken parmigiana.

The address for Nobscot's Cafe is 847 Edgell Road, Framingham, MA, 01701. Its website can be found at http://www.nobscotscafe.com/

Framingham Beer Works May Have Closed for Good

It looks like a location of a local group of brewpubs may have shut down permanently.

According to an article from the Framingham Source, Framingham Beer Works is no longer in operation, with Beer Works attorney Paul Sporn saying that "The pandemic has had a catastrophic effect on business. The restaurant industry was already facing a myriad of challenges before the pandemic, but the pandemic made it impossible to move forward in Framingham." The exact status of the other four locations of Beer Works is unknown right now, as the Boston (North Station/West End and Fenway), Hingham, and Salem outlets remain temporarily closed. [Ed note: The Hingham location is now closed as well.]

Framingham Beer Works first opened its doors in 2013.

The address for the now-closed Framingham Beer Works was 345 Cochituate Road, Framingham, MA, 01701. The website for the other locations can be found at https://beerworks.net/

[October 8 update: An Instagram comment gives just a sliver of hope that the Framingham closing might not be permanent, as the company says that the For Sale sign out front is "not a death sentence. This is not uncommon, and there's always the possibility of working with a new landlord, should there be a sale."]

Danny Sullivan's in Framingham Has Closed

by Marc Hurwitz

A dive bar west of Boston has shut its doors after two years in business, though it is apparently hoping to open back up again at some point.

According to a source, Danny Sullivan's in Framingham is now closed and its name has been removed from the awning, with the Facebook page for the Irving Street watering hole indicating that it shuttered on December 30. The post goes on to say that "We hope to re-open later in 2019," though it is not known whether it is looking to return to the same space or find a new space elsewhere; as soon as we get more information, we will post an update here.

Danny Sullivan's first opened two years ago, taking over the space where The Tavern had been, and before that, a place called Connery's according to our source.

The address for this now-closed dive bar in Framingham was: Danny Sullivan's, 102 Irving Street, Framingham, MA, 01702.
