Off the Hook Bar & Grill Has Opened in Former Louis Space in Quincy's Houghs Neck

A new restaurant has opened in an out-of-the-way space near the water in Quincy, replacing a local favorite that closed down a few years ago.

According to a source, Off the Hook Bar & Grill is now open in the former Louis space in Houghs Neck, with the Sea Street dining and drinking spot having an ownership connection to the restaurant that it replaces. The menu for Off the Hook features a mix of seafood dishes, pub grub, and classic American fare, including such items as clam chowder, bacon-wrapped scallops, lobster rangoon, fish tacos, baked haddock, burgers, macaroni and cheese, steak tips, chicken parm, pizza, and short ribs.

Louis, which was a decades-old restaurant and bar that had previously been known as Louis Crossing, resided near the end of Sea Street just south of Nut Island; the place was forced to close in 2018 after being damaged by a series of nor'easters.

Louis in Quincy's Hough's Neck Has Closed for Good

A longtime fave that was located by the water near the end of a long dead-end road--and which has been shuttered for more than a year after being hit by storm damage--appears to have permanently closed.

According to an article in the Patriot Ledger, Louis in Quincy's Hough's Neck neighborhood has closed for good, with the attorney for the Sea Street restaurant and bar saying that the owners "have decided to sell it and move on," while also referring to the costly process over a lengthy battle centering around its parking lot. Louis was forced to shut down in March of 2018 after sustaining damage from a series of nor'easters, and it never reopened--and it also has been in a years-long fight over the lot across the street, which the restaurant owners wanted to sell off.

Louis was a dining and drinking spot that our sister site (Boston's Hidden Restaurants) featured as a tough-to-find place to go to for seafood, American classics, and pub grub. The review can be found below:

Hough Many Scoops in Quincy Reopens, Offering Soups, Bagels, and Coffee

An ice cream shop in Quincy that closed for the season last month is open once again, this time offering food and drink that's more suited for the colder months.

According to a post on the Quincy Is Everything Facebook group page, Hough Many Scoops in the Hough's Neck section of the city officially reopened today, with a post from the Sea Street shop confirming this. Based on the Facebook page from Hough Many Scoops, the place is now serving such items as soups, bagels, and coffee, and its hours are 6:00 AM to 6:00 PM on weekdays and 7:00 AM to 4:00 PM on weekends.

Hough Many Scoops had initially closed for the season on October 30; during the warmer months it was offering ice cream, Italian ice, frappes, floats, sundaes, banana splits, frozen yogurt, and more.
