Evergreen Room Opens in Hudson

A combination tea room/botanical bar has debuted west of Boston.

According to a source (Lindsay Tierney), Evergreen Room is now open in Hudson, moving into a space on Main Street that is adjacent to Crose Nest Apothecary (both of which are owned by Kinsey Rosene). The new spot is both a tea room and cocktail lounge that offers such foods as crisps, salads, sourdough bread, pickles, cheeses, chicken pozole, tarts, panna cotta, and more, based on what is shown on its Instagram page; it appears that a website for a place is on its way soon, though it is not up and running as of yet.

Crose Nest Apothecary is known in part for its herbs, spices, teas, soaps, oils, and candles.

Brad's Gourmet Delicatessen in Hudson Has Closed

A longtime deli west of Boston that was known in part for its subs has shut down.

According to a poster within the Friends of Boston's Hidden Restaurants Facebook group page, Brad's Gourmet Delicatessen in Hudson is now closed permanently, with the Facebook page for the Washington Street spot indicating that the owner has decided to retire. A Wicked Local/Hudson Sun article mentions this as well, saying that the closure was not Covid-related and that owner Brad Fillmore said, "my 67th birthday is approaching in April....I just want to take some serious time off and then I will see what comes up." Brad's, which first opened in 1987, featured soups, salads, sandwiches, and catering.

Armsby Abbey Owners to Open Conico in Hudson

The people behind an award-winning beer bar in Worcester are opening a new place, and this one is a bit closer to Boston.

According to an article in the Worcester Business Journal, Alec Lopez and Sherri Sadowski of Armsby Abbey are planning to open Conico on Main Street in Hudson, with the husband-and-wife team stating (via a Facebook post) that this will not be a second Armsby Abbey location (there has been some chatter about this), though it is not known exactly what the concept will be as of yet.

Armsby Abbey, which first opened in 2008, has gained national recognition over the years, according to the Mass Foodies site, while the bar's website mentions that it has won 66 Best of Worcester awards. The place is known for its extensive list of local, national, and international beers and is also perhaps the only spot within an hour of the Boston area to offer beers from Hill Farmstead in Vermont (Hill Farmstead is considered to be one of the best brewers in the country). Another spot in Worcester called The Dive Bar is under the same ownership as well.

Thanks to a source for bringing the upcoming opening of Conico to our attention.

[March 5 update: Boston Magazine states that Conico plans to feature modern takes on traditional Mexican food, with the focus being on masa (a corn-based dough) including such options as tamales, tacos, mole, and more. The article says that while a "wonderful, serious selection" of beers will be offered at the upcoming spot, tequila and mezcal will be front and center as well, so expect a variety of cocktails to be offered.]

Rail Trail Flatbread Co. Is Opening in Hudson

It looks like a restaurant that features flatbread pizza is coming to the MetroWest area.

According to The MetroWest Daily News Rail Trail Flatbread Co. has received a license to operate on Main Street in Hudson, moving into a space in the heart of the downtown area that has been vacant. The article mentions that the new spot will cook flatbread pizzas in a wood-fired oven, and that all-natural, organic ingredients will be used for the pies.

The name of the restaurant comes from The Assabet River Rail Trail, a biking, jogging, and walking trail that cuts through Hudson and, when done, will go through the communities of Marlborough, Hudson, Stow, Maynard, and Acton.

Currently, there is no specific opening date for Rail Trail Flatbread Co., according to The MetroWest Daily News.
