Luna's Cakes & Coffee to Open in Newton Centre

A new bakery is on its way to the western suburbs of Boston.

According to a poster within the Friends of Boston's Hidden Restaurants Facebook page (via an All Over Newton post as well as a thread from Marini Real Estate), Luna's Cakes & Coffee is planning to open in Newton Centre, taking over the space on Centre Street that had been home to a location of Starbucks. The Facebook posts indicate that sisters Valeria and Valentina Restrepo, who established a home bakery business during the days of the pandemic, are behind the shop, which will feature baked goods with Colombian influences along with Colombian coffee. 

The address for the upcoming Luna's Cakes & Coffee is 1269 Centre Street, Newton Centre, MA, 02459.

Bakey Is Opening in Newton Centre

A pair of bakeries with a well-known Israeli baker behind them will soon be joined by a third location.

According to a poster within the Friends of Boston's Hidden Restaurants Facebook group page (via a post from All Over Newton), Bakey is going to be opening in Newton Centre, with an earlier Fig City News article indicating that the business had been having popups within the Beacon Street space late last summer and fall, Once it opens, the new shop will join others in Boston and Brookline, and expect to see fresh breads, burekas, babkas, croissants, bagels, sandwiches, coffee, and more.

Bakey co-founder Uri Scheft is behind Lehamim Bakery in Israel, and he also co-founded Breads Bakery in New York City.

SALT Patisserie Opens in Newton Centre

Last fall, it was learned that a well-known pastry chef was planning to open a pastry shop in Newton, and now we have learned that the place has indeed debuted.

According to a press release, SALT Patisserie in Piccadilly Square in Newton Centre is now open, with Thiago Silva (who has been a winner in the Food Network shows "Chopped" and "Dessert Games") being behind it. Silva--who was born in Brazil and raised in Queens--will offer such options as breads, chocolates, cakes, cookies, croissants, prepared items to-go, coffee, and more, though the menu is limited for now.

SALT Patisserie Plans to Open in Piccadilly Square in Newton Centre

A well-known pastry chef is going to be opening a pastry shop in the western suburbs of Boston.

According to an article from boston.com, Thiago Silva is planning to open SALT Patisserie in Piccadilly Square in Newton Centre, with the Beacon Street shop being a patisserie that features such items as breads, chocolates, cakes, pastries, viennoiseries (Vienna-style baked goods), prepared items to-go, and coffee. Silva, who was born in Brazil and raised in Queens, is known in part for his appearances on Food Network shows "Chopped" and "Dessert Games," both of which he won.

If all goes as planned, SALT Patisserie will open early next year.
