4th Annual Chili Cup to Be Held at Ned Devine's in Boston's Faneuil Hall, February 21, 2013

A friendly competition that focuses on chili--and raises money for a good cause--will be returning to downtown Boston once again, and as always, a number of local dining spots will be participating.

On Thursday, February 21, the 4th annual Chili Cup will take place at Ned Devine's in Boston's Faneuil Hall, with the event starting at 6:00 PM. The competition, which benefits Community Work Services (an organization that helps people who struggle with poverty obtain employment), will have restaurants attempt to create the best chili, with such places as Anthem Kitchen + Bar, Bambara, Clery's, Dillon's, Lucky's Lounge, Mija Cantina & Tequila Bar, The Publick House, Tasty Burger, and others taking part in the event.

Tickets to the 2013 Chili Cup cost $10 and $15 (with the latter price including a Corona-rita with a specialty cup that guests can take with them) and can be ordered at http://bostonchilicup.eventbrite.com

Chili Cook-Off Coming to Church January 28, 2012

A food event is on its way to the Fenway neighborhood of Boston this weekend, and the focus will be on chili.

An email sent by Dramshop Hospitality indicates that the First Annual Chili Cook-Off is going to be held at Church Restaurant & Nightclub on Kilmarnock Street this Saturday, January 28, from 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM. The event will feature local spots facing off against each other, with the winner being crowed the Chili Champion (Judge's Choice and People's Choice). Participating places include Church Restaurant & Nightclub, The Citizen Public House and Oyster Bar, Fenway Park, Jerry Remy's, Sweet Caroline's, Sweet Cheeks, Tasty Burger, and Thornton's Grill.

Third Annual Chili Cup Coming to Ned Devine's in Boston, February 16, 2012

A culinary event that features chili will be returning to Boston, and once again, a number of local dining spots will be taking part in the competition.

An email sent from The Briar Group indicates that the 3rd annual Chili Cup will be taking place at Ned Devine's in Boston's Faneuil Hall on Thursday, February 16 from 6:00 PM to 10:00 PM. The event will be featuring all-you-can-eat chili along with prizes and other specials. Competitors include The Baseball Tavern (who won last year), Dillon's, Flat Iron Tapas Bar & Lounge, Game On!, The Greatest Bar, The North Star, and others. The winner of the event (which is based on consumer vote) will be awarded the 2012 Chili Cup.

Proceeds from the Chili Cup event will benefit Community Work Services, an organization that helps folks transform their lives through employment.

Fourth Annual Chili Con-Carnival Cook-Off to Be Held at The Grog in Newburyport, October 1, 2011

A chili cook-off returns to Newburyport this weekend, and as always, it will include food, live music, and door prizes.

According to the restaurant's website, The Grog on Middle Street in the downtown area of this North Shore city will be hosting the Chili Con-Carnival Cook-Off on Saturday, October 1, from 12:00 PM to 3:00 PM. The event, which will take place under a tent in the restaurant's parking lot, will feature chili from a variety of eateries in and around Newburyport, including Abraham's Bagels & Pizza, Bucciarelli's Butcher Shop & Deli, David's Tavern, Michael's Harborside, The Purple Onion, The Rockfish, The Stoplight Cafe, The Thirsty Whale, Warren Street Market & Deli, and others. Each attendee will vote for his or her favorite chili, with the winners being announced at 3:00.

Ticket to the 2011 Chili Con-Carnival Cook-Off cost $10 each (children under 12 are free), and as was the case last year, the event benefits three food pantries: The Pettengill House in Salisbury, Community Services of Newburyport, and Our Neighbor's Table in Amesbury.

Massachusetts State Chili Cook-Off Coming to Winchendon August 6, 2011

A chili cook-off returns to North-Central Massachusetts this year, with the event being held in August.

According to the International Chili Society website, the Massachusetts State Chili Cook-Off is coming back to Winchendon, with the event taking place on August 6. The competition will include three categories (chili, chili verde, and salsa), with participants competing to represent the state in the World Championship Chili Cook-Off, which will be held in Manchester, NH, starting September 30.

The event takes place at Bentley Field on Murdock Avenue in Winchendon, near the intersection of Routes 202 and 12 and a short distance south of the New Hampshire border).

Chili Cup to Be Held at Ned Devine's in Boston, February 17, 2011

A culinary event that focuses on chili returns to Boston this month, with several area restaurants included in the competition.

An email sent to us from The Briar Group indicates that the 2nd annual Chili Cup will be held at Ned Devine's in Faneuil Hall on Thursday, February 17. The event, which takes place from 6:00 PM to 10:00 PM, features all-you-can-eat chili as well as live music and prizes. Some Like it Hot Chili Cook-Off Coming to Cambridge's Harvard Square February 5, 2011

A chili competition is on its way to the Harvard Square section of Cambridge, with a number of local restaurants participating.

According to the Harvard Square Business Association website, the "Some Like it Hot Chili Cook-Off" will be held on Saturday, February 5, from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM in front of Crema Cafe on Brattle Street. The event, which is free to the public, will feature chili samplings made by chefs from Crema Cafe, Fire + Ice, Grendel's Den, Harvest, Henrietta's Table, Redline, Russell House Tavern, Tommy Doyle's, Tory Row, and UpStairs on the Square. Live music will also be featured at the event, and Trademark Tours will be offering chips and salsa to the public while JP Licks will be serving a chili-themed ice cream.

The Third Annual Chili Con-Carnival Cook-Off Comes to The Grog in Newburyport, October 2, 2010

A chili cook-off that includes live music and door prizes returns to Newburyport this weekend, and once again, it will be hosted by a restaurant and bar in the downtown area.

According to the restaurant's website, The Grog on Middle Street will be the site of the Chili Con-Carnival Cook-Off on Saturday, October 2, from 12:00 PM to 3:00 PM under a tent in their parking lot. A number of area dining spots will be participating, including The Grog, Abraham's Bagels & Pizza, David's Tavern, the Green Bean Deli, Michael's Harborside, Pat's Diner, The Port Tavern, The Riverside Cafe, Stella's of Middle Street, and The Thirsty Whale. Those who attend the cook-off will get to vote for their favorite chili, with the winners being announced at 3:00 PM.

The event at The Grog benefits three food pantries: The Pettengill House in Salisbury, Community Services of Newburyport, and Our Neighbor's Table in Amesbury.

Admission to the 2010 Chili Con-Carnival Cook-Off is $10 (children under 12 get in for free).

The Grog is located at 13 Middle Street, which is just east of State Street.
