Curio Spice Co. Is Expanding to Winchester

A spice shop in Cambridge is expanding a few miles to the north.

According to a poster within the Friends of Boston's Hidden Restaurants Facebook group page, Curio Spice Co. is planning to expand to Winchester, with a picture posted indicating that it will be taking over a space on Park Street on the edge of the downtown area. The Cambridge location of Curio Spice Co. first opened in the fall of 2016.

[October 18 update: Its social media pages indicate that the expansion to Winchester is now complete, though an Instagram post states that the new space is for production, fulfillment, and offices only.]

Curio Spice to Open Shop in North Cambridge

A Somerville-based company that sells spices out of farmers markets and shops is going to be opening a shop of its own.

Eater Boston is reporting (via Scout Cambridge) that Curio Spice plans to open a brick-and-mortar store in North Cambridge, moving into a space on Mass. Ave. by the Dover Street/Hollis Street traffic light a couple of blocks northwest of Rindge Avenue. Up until now, Curio founder Claire Cheney has been working out of a kitchen at Taza Chocolate that she has shared with EHChocolatier, but she has outgrown that space, according to Scout Cambridge.

If all goes as planned, Curio Spice could be opening in its new shop by the end of October.

Christina's Spice and Specialty Foods in Cambridge's Inman Square Has Moved

Last year we reported that the people behind an ice cream shop and specialty food/spice store in Cambridge's Inman Square were looking to open a baking annex. Now we have learned that they have actually moved their food/spice store into that space.

According to posters within the Chowhound site, Christina's Spice & Specialty Foods has moved from 1261 Cambridge Street to 1297 Cambridge Street, with their ice cream shop remaining at 1255 Cambridge Street. It is not known at this point in time if they will eventually include the proposed baking annex within the new space or whether those plans have fallen through (we will post an update as soon as we find out).
