Honeygrow Is Opening at Boston Landing in Brighton

Last spring, it was reported that a Philadelphia-based group of dining spots would be bringing another location to Boston, and now we know a bit more about it, including an exact address.

According to a licensing board hearing page within the city's website, Honeygrow is planning to open at Boston Landing in Brighton, moving into a space on Guest Street. The notice mentions that the new eatery plans to have seating for 48 while also having a seasonal outdoor patio, and based on the locations section of the website for the business, this is the location that Honeygrow previously said would be coming to Allston (the Allston/Brighton line is along the eastern edge of Boston Landing).

If approved, the new location of Honeygrow will join others locally in the Fenway and the Seaport District along with the Northshore Mall in Peabody, and it will likely focus on stir-fry dishes while also offering salads and honeybars.

The address for the Boston Landing location of Honeygrow is 305 Guest Street, Boston, MA, 02134. The website for Honeygrow can be found at https://www.honeygrow.com/

[March 13 update: According to a press release, the new Honeygrow is now open, and it is located within Alder at Allston Yards which is right by the Allston/Brighton line.]

Minigrow by Honeygrow in Downtown Boston Has Apparently Closed

It looks like a chain of stir-fry restaurants has closed one of its locations in the heart of downtown Boston.

According to a tweet from @FortPointer, Minigrow by Honeygrow on Summer Street is no longer in operations, with a check on the website for the Honeygrow chain seeming to confirm this, as the outlet is no longer shown on the locations page. Minigrow by Honeygrow, which first opened in downtown Boston in the spring of 2018, was a slightly different concept from Honeygrow that featured a more streamlined menu while also having an assembly-line system of preparing meals for customers.

Local outlets of the Philadelphia-based Honeygrow chain can currently be found in the Back Bay and the Seaport District.

The address for the now-closed Minigrow by Honeygrow in downtown Boston was 125 Summer Street, Boston, MA, 02111. The website for Honeygrow is at https://www.honeygrow.com/

Honeygrow Is Opening in Boston's Seaport District

A Philadelphia-based group of dining spots that opened its first Boston location earlier this month is planning to open another shop in the city, with this one being in a rapidly-growing area by the water.

According to a job post within the Craigslist site, Honeygrow is looking to open in the Seaport District and is currently hiring a kitchen manager for the upcoming outlet on Northern Avenue at Fan Pier. Once it opens, the new eatery will join another on Boylston Street in the Fenway, and based on the other locations, it will likely offer salads with house-made dressings along with stir-fry noodle dishes with meat and veggie options and sauces. No opening date has been given for the new location of Honeygrow as of yet, so keep checking back for updates.

Honeygrow first started out in Philadelphia in 2012.

The address for this new dining spot in the Seaport District is: Honeygrow, 100 Northern Avenue, Boston, MA, 02210. The website for all locations is at http://www.honeygrow.com/

[September 19 update: Boston Magazine states that the new Honeygrow in the Seaport District opens October 13.]

Ming Tsai to Open ChowStirs in Downtown Boston; Concept Could Become National Chain

Last month, we reported that a celebrity chef with local roots was going to be closing one of his restaurants and that he would be starting up a new concept. Now we have learned a bit more about what could become a chain of dining spots.

According to an article in The Boston Herald, Ming Tsai has made the decision to close Blue Ginger in Wellesley so that he could focus on his next project--ChowStirs, a fast-casual stir-fry concept that will focus on the use of fresh and healthy ingredients cooked in a wok in front of customers. The post says that the first location plans to open in downtown Boston between January and March of 2018, and that Tsai has an eye on making this a national chain, saying that he hopes to have the concept help fund Family Reach, a nonprofit that helps families dealing with the financial struggles of cancer. (Tsai says that if ChowStirs became a national chain, families tied to Family Reach would be able to eat there for free during off-hours.)

Blue Ginger is set to close its doors at the end of business hours on June 3.
