It looks like a new restaurant may be coming to the Boston waterfront, and the people behind another waterfront spot appear to be involved.
According to a licensing board hearing page within the city's website, 111 East Restaurant is seeking a beer and wine license to operate at a space on Fan Pier Boulevard in the Seaport District, with the notice indicating that the dining spot would have seating for 83 inside and as many as 15 additional seats on a seasonal outdoor patio. An OpenCorporates page shows that Kathryn Cook of The Fusion Group and Marco Coelho are involved with the business, with Coelho (and Cook along with The Fusion Group itself) being behind Lola 42, a bistro and sushi bar that is basically around the corner from the space for the proposed 111 East. There is currently very little information on what food/drink 111 East might offer, so keep checking back for updates.
Marco Coelho also runs Lola 41, a bistro and sushi bar on Nantucket.

Pressed Cafe Is Opening in Newton
A trio of dining spots that focus on healthy, freshly-made options may soon be joined by a second Boston-area location.
According to a job post within the Craigslist site, Pressed Cafe is planning to open in Newton, with a page on the mypublicnotices.com site indicating that it will be located on Needham Street just north of the Charles River and the Needham line. The notice also indicates that the new location will have an outdoor patio and is seeking a liquor license, though it is not known if it is just a beer and wine license or a full liquor license. Once the Newton location of Pressed Cafe opens, it will join others in Burlington and in Nashua (two).
Pressed Cafe offers such items as breakfast burritos, soups, salads, panini, quinoa bowls, mac and cheese bowls, smoothies, pressed juices, coffee, and an array of vegan options.

John Harvard's Brewery and Ale House in Cambridge's Harvard Square Is Closing
It looks like another longtime Harvard Square spot is shutting its doors for good.
According to an article from Boston Magazine, John Harvard's Brewery & Ale House on Dunster Street is closing on May 30 after more than 25 years in business and a bit more than three years after announcing that it was ending its onsite beermaking. No specific reason has been given for the closure as of yet, but its ending of the beermaking operations in 2016 stemmed from what was described as maintenance expenses at the time. The post says that the closure does not affect the other outlets of John Harvard's in Framingham or at two ski mountains west of the local area--Jiminy Peak in western Massachusetts and Holiday Valley in New York--nor does it affect Union Station Brewery in Providence, which is affiliated with the John Harvard's brand.
John Harvard's first opened in 1992 in The Garage, a building in the heart of the square that is home to a number of businesses, including a few other dining spots.
A number of other well-known restaurants and cafes have closed in Harvard Square over the past several years, including Crema Cafe, Sandrine's Bistro, UpStairs on the Square, Leo's Place Diner, Cafe Algiers, Fire + Ice, and Tealuxe.

Pollo Club Opening in Former El Rincon de Moody's Space in Waltham
A taqueria and BBQ spot in Waltham that abruptly shut down around the beginning of the year--and which is affiliated with an award-winning deli--is going to morph into a new restaurant.
According to an article in the Waltham News Tribune, the former El Rincon de Moody's space is planning to be home to a dining spot once again, with Alex Hage--who is the new manager of the Moody Street eatery--hinting that the restaurant will be going through changes, saying that "The concept is going to be finalized very soon and then the doors will be open." The dining spot closed with no warning around the new year, saying at the time that it would be shuttered for the winter season but it never did reopen; in addition, as mentioned in another article, both the adjacent Moody's Delicatessen & Provisions and The Backroom were forced to shut down last month because of a licensing issue, with Moody's reopening last week and The Backroom supposedly opening back up at some point. [Ed note--The Backroom is now open.]

[August 1 update: Eater Boston states that the new concept coming to the El Rincon de Moody's space will be called Pollo Club, a restaurant that will feature fried chicken along with vegetarian dishes, and beer, wine, and cocktails will be available as well. If all goes as planned, the new spot will open in September.]
[October 25 update: Boston Magazine says that Pollo Club has softly opened for dinner service, with its grand opening taking place on Tuesday, October 29.]

Longfellows at Lamplighter Brewing in Cambridge Is Closing; Pepita Coffee Is Opening in Space
A coffee shop that is located inside a local brewery is closing down, though it will be replaced by another spot.
According to a source, Longfellows, which is inside the Lamplighter Brewing space in Cambridge, is shutting down at the end of business hours on June 2, with a note from the place saying that the people behind it are leaving the area this summer. The post says that a new cafe called Pepita Coffee will be moving into the space on June 10 and that "you'll notice some familiar Longfellows faces, too."
Both Longfellows and Lamplighter Brewing opened on Broadway in the fall of 2016, moving into a space between Central Square, Kendall Square, and Inman Square.

Break Rock Brewing Plans to Open in Quincy
A new brewery and taproom may be coming to a city that currently has no breweries.
According to a post within the Friends of Boston's Hidden Restaurants Facebook group page, Kerry Byrne of KJB Trending Hospitality states that Break Rock Brewing is planning to open in Quincy, with a check on the website for the business saying that they are currently finalizing a location somewhere in the city and that it would "combine the best of the modern taproom with everything you love about your favorite neighborhood pub – a fun and inviting atmosphere, a sense of community, and great beer." If all goes as planned, Break Rock Brewing could be opening sometime in 2020.
