Eater Boston is reporting (via Jamaica Plain News) that Grass Fed on Centre Street is planning to open another location in the Forest Hills section of the neighborhood, taking over the space on Washington Street where Tonic had been before closing for good in 2013. The articles say that the new eatery will have an 18-foot bar along with restaurant seating inside, and an outdoor "beer garden" style patio will be set up in the back during the warmer months. If all goes as planned, the new Grass Fed could be opening in February of 2016.
The former Tonic space had also been looked at by The Wok in Wellesley last year, though those plans apparently fell through.
The address for the new location of Grass Fed in the Forest Hills area of JP is 3698 Washington Street, Jamaica Plain, MA, 02130. The restaurant's website can be found at http://www.grassfedjp.com/
[November 5 update: A new article in the Jamaica Plain News mentions that the Jamaica Plain Neighborhood Council's Public Service Committee has approved of Grass Fed's plans for a second location, including its requests for a liquor license and patio as well as a proposed closing time and delivery/takeout services; the next step is for the City of Boston to make a decision on the dining spot, with a meeting coming up on November 18.]
