Mike and Patty's in Boston's Bay Village Plans to Open New Location in Waltham

A beloved Boston breakfast place and sandwich shop that has received both local and national recognition since opening nine years ago is opening a new--and larger--location in the suburbs.

The Waltham News Tribune is reporting that Mike & Patty's on Church Street in Bay Village will be expanding to Moody Street in Waltham, with the new location apparently being more of a sit-down spot than the original, having 2,800 square feet of space and opening where a furniture store had been. The article says that if all goes as planned, the eatery could debut by the end of the year. (It appears that this will be a second location rather than a move, but as soon as we can confirm this, we will post an update here.)

The original location of Mike & Patty's, which first opened in 2008, has received a lot of positive press for its breakfast and lunch sandwiches, with the website for the place noting that it has been featured on TV Diner and Chronicle and included in Boston Magazine's Best of Boston in both 2012 and 2014--and Yahoo and Thrillist also had it on their "short list" of Best Breakfast Sandwiches in the United States for 2015.

The address for the upcoming location of Mike & Patty's in Waltham is 584 Moody Street, Waltham, MA, 02453. The website for the original location can be found at http://www.mikeandpattys.com/

[July 13 update: Boston Magazine states that it is not yet known if the new location of Mike & Patty's in Waltham will be a full-service restaurant and it is also too early to know if it will have an expanded menu. (Owners Mike and Ania Gurevich say that "It is still very early and we're still finishing some of the planning in terms of concept, menu, etc.")]

[September 7 update: A new article from Boston Magazine indicates that plans to open Mike & Patty's in Waltham have fallen through.]
