It appears that Ken Oringer's newest restaurant may be opening very soon. According to Urban Daddy, Chowhound, and several other sources, Coppa is looking to open its doors to the public as early as today in the South End of Boston (according to Urban Daddy), but other sources have the Italian enoteca opening sometime this weekend. [December 9 update: According to a post on Twitter from Jamie Bissonnette (see below), Coppa is now open.]
Coppa, which moves into the spot on Shawmut Avenue where the upscale comfort food spot Dish used to be, is being run by Jamie Bissonnette, who has been the executive chef at Toro in the South End (another Ken Oringer restaurant). The menu at Coppa looks to feature Italian small plates as well as wood-fired pizza and homemade pasta and Italian wines and craft beers are also offered. An outdoor patio will be open during the warmer months.
Hours for Coppa are 12:00 PM to 1:00 AM. They are open seven days a week.
In addition to Coppa and Toro, Ken Oringer is also behind such popular Boston restaurants as Clio, KO Prime, La Verdad, and Uni.
The address for this new restaurant in the South End is: Coppa, 253 Shawmut Avenue, Boston, MA 02118.
