An Italian restaurant in Woburn Center that has been in business since the 1990s has apparently closed. According to posters on both Yelp and Chowhound, La Stanza Diva on Main Street has been closed per order of the court, with a poster on Yelp saying that the windows of the restaurant are papered over.
La Stanza Diva first opened about 20 years ago in the northern section of the city, eventually moving to downtown Woburn where it has been to this day. The restaurant has featured a mix of Northern Italian, Southern Italian, and Mediterranean dishes, including escargot, polenta, stuffed artichokes, grilled shark, fettuccine gorgonzola, penne alla vodka, chicken piccata, porchetta, pan-seared veal chop, shrimp scampi, littleneck clams. A number of unusual items have also been featured, including pan-seared kangaroo, deep-fried rattlesnake, turtle soup, roasted rack of elk chop, and deep-fried alligator.
La Stanza Diva has also featured live music and has been involved with catering and functions as well.
Once we find out for sure whether this is a temporary or permanent closure (or whether La Stanza Diva might open somewhere else), we'll post an update here. [August 13 update: La Stanza Diva has definitely closed.]
