Turbine Wine Bar Opens in Lynn

A new restaurant and bar featuring small plates and wine in now open in Lynn. Turbine Wine Bar has opened its doors at 56 Central Square in the downtown section of this North Shore city, moving into the space where the European-style eatery Gulu-Gulu Cafe used to be until closing in December of 2008 (Gulu-Gulu has another location on Essex Street in nearby Salem that remains open).

The menu at Turbine Wine Bar features soups, salads, small plates, and desserts, with small plates ranging between $6 and $12. Items on the menu include spicy coconut soup, a cheese plate, sweet potato ravioli, lobster panini, chicken satay, pulled pork biscuits, and for dessert, warm pressed banana cakes, black and white cannolis, and mini tarts.

According to a blog post on the Wicked Local site, the family of the owner of Turbine Wine Bar used to run Maddie's Sail Loft, a popular seafood place and watering hole in Marblehead that remains open under different ownership.
