Barracuda Tavern Opening in Downtown Boston

It appears that a new seafood restaurant will be coming to the Downtown Crossing section of Boston.

According to Universal Hub, the Barracuda Tavern has been looking to open on Bosworth Street (between Washington and Tremont Streets) where Ye Olde Province Tavern--also known as Hank's Tavern--used to be until closing down about 10 years ago. A March 29 posting on the EveryBlock Boston site has indicated that a license has been issued for the restaurant, so it looks like the opening of the Barracuda Tavern is likely to happen.

Bosworth Street is also home to Marliave, a restaurant and bar that first opened in the late 1800s and was renovated and reopened in 2008 after closing for a short time.

[July 9 update: According to the restaurant's Facebook page, the Barracuda Tavern should be opening in the next few weeks, so expect a possible late July/early August opening.]

[July 20 update: According to Thrillist Boston, the Barracuda Tavern is planning on having a soft opening this weekend. Thanks to Grub Street Boston for bringing this to our attention.]

[August 30 update: According to the Barracuda Tavern Facebook page, the restaurant is now open for business, though only for drinks--they still need to get approval from the Health Inspector to serve food.]

[September 2 update: According to the restaurant's Facebook page, the Barracuda Tavern is now fully open, serving food as well as drinks.]

The address for this new seafood restaurant near Downtown Crossing is: Barracuda Tavern, 15 Bosworth Street, Boston, MA, 02108.
