Canteen Opening in Cambridge

A new breakfast, lunch, and dinner spot is opening between Harvard Square and Central Square, and it looks to be a cafe-style eatery that focuses on healthy dishes using locally sourced and seasonal ingredients.

According to the Thrillist Boston site, Canteen is going to be having a soft opening on Mass. Ave. tomorrow (Saturday, May 22), though we are still trying to find out when their grand opening will be. Based on the menu on the Canteen website, the restaurant will focus partly on gourmet sandwiches, but they will also be offering daily entree specials such as chicken and waffles, roasted port loin, and pan-seared Barramundi. Freshly made soups and salads will also be available, including coconut curry chicken soup and a skirt steak salad. Breakfast items include brioche French toast, raspberry jam blintzes, and Belgian malted waffles.

One of the two people behind Canteen is also the owner of La Creperie, which is located about three blocks west of the new restaurant on Mass. Ave.

The address for this new cafe in Cambridge is: Canteen, 983 Massachusetts Avenue, Cambridge, MA, 02138. The phone number is (617) 547-5477. And the website can be found at: http://gocanteen.com/
