A family-family restaurant across from Hingham Harbor was one of a number of structures on the South Shore hit by lightning during yesterday's severe thunderstorms, though it sounds like the damage to the dining spot was relatively minor.
According to The Patriot Ledger, Stars Restaurant on Route 3A (Otis Street) was struck by lightning Sunday afternoon, causing damage to their computer system. The Ledger article states that a car that was parked in the lot for Stars was also affected, as its windshield was smashed. A call placed to the restaurant this morning indicates that they are open for business.
The same storms also caused a major fire at a home in Braintree, knocked down tree branches, and brought about power outages on the South Shore.
