Boathouse Bistro Is Moving from The Launch at Hingham Shipyard to the Nantasket Beach Resort in Hull

A South Shore restaurant that is known for its Italian fare and its seafood dishes will be moving to a new space one town away.

According to an article from the Hingham Anchor, the Boathouse Bistro is planning to move from its current home at The Launch at Hingham Shipyard to Nantasket Beach Resort in Hull, taking over the space that had been home to Shoreline Kitchen & Bar. The article mentions that the new space will be much larger, having room for functions, special events, and catering, and it will continue to offer pizza, as the space will include a wood-burning oven. If all goes as planned, the restaurant could open in its new space in early June. (As mentioned in another article, Salty Days is taking over Boathouse Bistro's Hingham space.)

Boathouse Bistro first opened at the Shipyard in 2015.

The new address for Boathouse Bistro will be 45 Hull Shore Drive, Hull, MA, 02045. Its website can be found at https://www.boathousebistrohingham.com/

[June 25 update: An Instagram post from the business indicates that Boathouse Bistro said farewell to its Hingham location yesterday, with an opening date for its new location in Hull coming soon.]

The person behind two popular restaurants in Boston's Chinatown will be opening a new concept on the South Shore.

According to a press release, Nomai is opening at the Derby Street Shops in Hingham, with Brian Moy (Shojo, Ruckus) being the owner of the upcoming spot. Very little information on the upcoming dining spot has been given as of yet other than the fact that it plans to open in the late spring; in addition, as posted here earlier, Moy is also opening a new location of Shojo in Cambridge's Central Square area this fall. Hingham Beer Works Has Closed for Good

photo of Hingham Beer Works, Hingham, MA.Another location of a local group of brewpubs has shut down permanently.

According to an article from the Boston Business Journal, Hingham Beer Works is no longer in operation, with owner Joe Slesar saying that lease for the space was up at the end of August and it made no sense to remain open. In the article, Slesar also looks at the bigger picture for the Beer Works chain, saying that "I get up every day and try to figure out how to move the ball forward....But realistically I'm looking at, how do I put together the proper business plan and survive?" His hope is to reopen the two Boston locations of Beer Works next spring, though the Salem and Framingham locations appear to be more in question, as their reopenings are based on how talks go with landlords at those spots. (An earlier article here had mentioned that Framingham Beer Works may have closed for good, with Beer Works attorney Paul Sporn saying that "...the pandemic made it impossible to move forward in Framingham.")

Hingham Beer Works is slated to hold an online auction around the middle of this month, while Slesar indicates that he is talking with other groups about bringing another restaurant to the space.

The address for now-closed Hingham Beer Works was 18 Shipyard Drive, Hingham, MA, 02043. The website for the company can be found at https://beerworks.net/

Sapa at The Launch at Hingham Shipyard Is Closing

An Asian restaurant on the South Shore is closing, and the coronavirus played a role in its decision to shutter.

According to a poster within the Friends of Boston's Hidden Restaurants Facebook group page, Sapa at The Launch at Hingham Shipyard is shutting down permanently, with a Facebook post from the place saying that "COVID-19 and the restrictions that followed have significantly changed the experience of restaurant dining and bar patronage...and have made it impossible for us to continue SAPA successfully." The note mentions that the restaurant plans to close its doors on September 5 and that anyone with gift cards can either use them before it shuts down or get a refund before that date by emailing them.

Sapa first opened toward the end of 2018, taking over the space that had been home to Zendo. The dining spot offers a variety of Asian dishes, with much of its menu including Chinese entrees and sushi.

Locales Tacos y Tequila Is Opening in the Former Crow's Landing Space in Hingham

A brand new Mexican restaurant is on its way to the South Shore, moving into the space where a comfort food spot had been.

According to an article from Wicked Local, Locales Tacos y Tequila is planning to open in Hingham, taking over the former Crow's Landing space on Crow Point Lane just off Route 3A. Brian McLaughlin, who is behind the upcoming dining spot, says that it will be a "laid back, Baja California-style taqueria" that focuses on crispy tacos and tequila drinks. (McLaughlin also runs Seabird Coffee & Co. in Cohasset and had previous been behind several Mexican spots in the San Francisco area.) If all goes well, Locales Tacos y Tequila could be opening late next month.

Both the Wicked Local article and a recent Hingham Anchor post indicate that Locales Tacos y Tequila could focus on takeout initially--even if restaurant restrictions due to the COVID-19 pandemic are lifted by the time it opens--and that the place will ultimately "have a strong focus on outdoor dining" during the warmer months, according to McLaughlin.

Crow's Landing, which has been shuttered for awhile, had first opened in the space in the fall of 2013.

The address for this brand new Mexican restaurant in Hingham is: Locales Tacos y Tequila, 6 Crow Point Lane, Hingham, MA, 02043.

[July 21, 2021 update: An episode within The Hingham Cast plus some updated information given to us indicates that Locales Tacos y Tequila has been doing popups on site, and it is now ready to open its doors, with a lunch popup taking place tomorrow at 11:00 AM and full-service dinner at 5:00 PM.]
