An Italian restaurant on the North Shore that had been in business for more than half a century (including three years in its newest location) has closed its doors.
According to the Marblehead Reporter and Wicked Local, Trattoria Sablone's on Smith Street in Marblehead shut down loast month, citing the poor economy as a reason for its closing. Trattoria Sablone's opened in Marblehead about three years ago, bringing back to life a restaurant that had resided in East Boston for 55 years until closing in 2002. The menu featured such classic Italian dishes as gnocchi, ravioli, chicken marsala, eggplant parmigiana, veal limone, lamb chops, and clams, mussels, and shrimp over linguine.
Even though Sablone's is now closed, the article mentions that the restaurant was given an extension of its liquor license until the end of September in order to ease the process of selling the business.
The address for this now-closed restaurant in Marblehead was: Trattoria Sablone's, 33 Smith Street, Marblehead, MA, 01945.
