Several Greek festivals are taking place in Massachusetts this weekend, including one currently being held in Braintree. According to the website of Saint Catherine Greek Orthodox Church on Common Street, the Grecian Festival started yesterday (Thursday, September 9) and will continue until Sunday, September 12. The event features food, music, dancing, raffles, and children's activities.
A look at the Grecian Festival's menu shows a number of Greek dishes being offered, including grape leaves, Greek salads, gyros, baked lamb, locanico (pork sausage), moussaka, pastitsio, souvlaki, and spanakopita. Desserts such as baklava, karidopita (rice pudding), and rice pudding are available as well, and beer and wine are being served at the event. Prices for food items are generally around $10 to $12.
Hours for the 2010 Grecian Festival in Braintree are 11:00 AM to 11:00 PM today and tomorrow, and 12:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Sunday. (Admission and parking are both free.)
