A Mexican restaurant in Malden that opened last spring is getting ready to shut its doors, though the people behind the dining spot will be opening a new eatery in the space.
According to the restaurant's Facebook page, Agave Mexican Grille and Tequila Bar on Medford Street will be having a "Funeral of the Fiesta" party on Friday, January 28, about nine months after it first opened for business. Posts on their Facebook page indicate that Agave will be replaced by a restaurant similar to the Dockside Restaurant in Malden and Wakefield (same owners as Agave), and may indeed be called Dockside Restaurant at River's Edge.
Agave Mexican Grille and Tequila Bar had taken over the space of a Chinese restaurant called Beansprout, which closed in 2009 after about 30 years in business.
The address for this soon-to-close Mexican restaurant in Malden is: Agave Mexican Grille and Tequila Bar, 270 Medford Street, Malden, MA, 02148. The website for the Dockside Restaurants can be found at: http://www.docksiderestaurants.com/
[January 31 update: Agave Mexican Grille and Tequila Bar has officially closed.]
Thanks to a poster on Chowhound for initially bringing this to our attention.
