An upscale Mexican restaurant is planning to open in the Seaport District of Boston, and it will be one of several new dining spots in the immediate area.
According to a poster on Chowhound, a sign for Temazcal Tequila Cantina has been put up at Liberty Wharf, and the sign also mentions a two-time James Beard award winner being involved and 300 tequilas available at the upcoming spot. (The Boston Herald states that Todd Hall, who opened the highly-regarded La Hacienda within the Fairmont Scottsdale Princess hotel in Scottsdale, AZ--and is indeed a two-time James Beard award winner--is behind the place. Hall currently operates the nearby Whiskey Priest.) Two posters on our Hiddenboston Twitter page have confirmed all of this information, with one sending us a photo that shows the sign.
Once it opens (the Herald mentions a possible February opening), Temazcal Tequila Cantina will be one of four restaurants in the Liberty Wharf complex, including new locations of Legal Sea Foods, Jerry Remy's, and Del Frisco's. And the new eatery will be the second Mexican restaurant to come to the general area, as Papagayo recently opened on Summer Street in the nearby Fort Point District of Boston.
[April 14, 2011 update: According to UrbanDaddy, Temazcal Tequila Cantina is opening to the public on Saturday (April 16).]
Liberty Wharf is located near the intersection of Northern Avenue and D Street, just east of the World Trade Center in the heart of the Seaport District. The website is http://www.libertywharf.co/restaurants/temazcal/
