A chain of bakery-cafes continues to expand through the Boston area, and its newest location will be much larger than any of its other spots in the region.
According to The Boston Globe, Panera Bread is planning to open a two-story restaurant in Cambridge's Harvard Square, moving into the space where the stationery shop Bob Slate had been since the 1930s. The article states that the new Panera will have a capacity of 125 and, unlike other Boston-area locations of the chain, it will have table service.
Panera recently opened locations in Porter Square as well as in Boston's Back Bay. The Globe article mentions that a new shop in Lexington Center is on the way as well.
Expect a December opening for the new Panera in Harvard Square.
