A food festival that was supposed to come to downtown Boston this weekend has been canceled due to an ongoing series of demonstrations near where the event was supposed to happen.
According to Grub Street Boston, the Greenway Mobile Food Fest will not take place on Saturday, October 15 at Dewey Square Park due to the continued Occupy Boston movement. Grub Street includes a quote from the Rose Kennedy Greenway Conservancy that states "The decision is based on the fact that the number of attendees we're expecting for the Greenway Mobile Food Fest, combined with the Occupy Boston encampment on Dewey Square, would simply be too crowded to be considered safe for the public."
The event was supposed to take place from 11:30 AM to 7:00 PM on Saturday, with such vendors as BBQ Smith, Clover Food Lab, Lefty's Silver Cart, Mobile Home, Silk Road BBQ, and others taking part in the festival.
